Shipping Rate Calculator India — Compare Courier Charges.

Enter your origin PIN, destination PIN, and parcel weight to instantly compare rates across India's top couriers.

How the calculator works

Three inputs are all you need to get accurate carrier rate comparisons in seconds.

01

Enter origin and destination

Type your 6-digit origin PIN code and destination PIN code. The calculator uses these to determine whether your shipment is intra-state or inter-state — the single biggest factor in courier pricing across all Indian carriers.

02

Add weight and dimensions

Enter the actual weight in kilograms. Optionally add length, width, and height in centimetres to account for volumetric weight. Couriers charge based on whichever is higher — actual or volumetric — so dimensions matter for large, light packages.

03

Compare all carriers instantly

Hit Compare Rates to see Delhivery, Bluedart, DTDC, India Post, Xpressbees, and Ecom Express side by side — sorted cheapest first, with Cheapest and Fastest labels to help you pick the right carrier.

Understanding shipping rates in India

Courier pricing in India is driven by four key factors. Understanding them helps you ship smarter.

Volumetric weight

Volumetric weight is calculated as Length × Width × Height (cm) ÷ 5000. Most Indian couriers — Delhivery, Bluedart, DTDC, Xpressbees — use a DIM factor of 5000. India Post Speed Post uses 6000. The chargeable weight is whichever is greater: actual or volumetric.

Example: A 30 × 20 × 15 cm box weighing 0.5 kg has a volumetric weight of 1.8 kg. You will be charged for 1.8 kg, not 0.5 kg.

Intra-state vs. inter-state rates

All Indian couriers price differently based on whether origin and destination are in the same state (intra-state) or different states (inter-state). Intra-state shipments are always cheaper and faster. This calculator determines your zone automatically from the PIN codes you enter.

For example, Mumbai (400001) to Pune (411001) is intra-state (Maharashtra), while Mumbai to Bangalore (560001) is inter-state.

Weight slabs

Courier rates are structured in slabs. Most carriers charge a base rate for the first 500 g, then a per-500 g rate for every additional unit. India Post Speed Post uses 50 g slabs. The cheapest base rate is not always the cheapest total — always compare on chargeable weight, not just the headline rate.

Which courier is cheapest in India?

It depends on the route and weight. For lightweight inter-state shipments, DTDC and Ecom Express are typically the cheapest. For heavier parcels, Delhivery and Xpressbees offer competitive rates. Bluedart is the most expensive but the fastest. India Post Speed Post is cheapest for documents and packets under 50 g.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about courier rates and how this calculator works.

Are these rates accurate?

Rates are sourced from each carrier's publicly available rate card and are approximate. Actual rates may vary based on account type, negotiated contracts, fuel surcharges, and carrier promotions. Always confirm with the carrier before booking.

Does this calculator include GST?

No. The rates shown are base rates excluding GST. All Indian courier services attract 18% GST on the shipping charge. Add 18% to the displayed rate to get the total amount payable.

What is the DIM factor?

The DIM factor divides the box volume (L x W x H in cubic centimetres) to get the volumetric weight in kilograms. Most couriers use 5000; India Post uses 6000. A lower factor makes large boxes more expensive relative to their actual weight.

Can I use this for international shipping?

This calculator covers domestic shipments within India only. For international shipping, check DHL Express, FedEx, or Aramex directly as rates depend on destination country and customs requirements.

Which courier has the best tracking?

Delhivery and Bluedart offer the most detailed real-time tracking updates. India Post tracking can lag by 24 to 48 hours. You can track any parcel from these carriers for free using TrackParcel.

What is the cheapest way to send a parcel in India?

For parcels under 500 g, DTDC and India Post Speed Post are typically the cheapest. For heavier shipments over 2 kg, compare Delhivery and Ecom Express — rates vary significantly by route. Use the calculator above for your specific PIN codes.
