What does an India Post tracking number start with?
An India Post tracking number is 13 characters: two letters, nine digits, then IN. The first two letters tell you the service. EE, EL and EM are Speed Post. CP is Registered Parcel. RA, RB, RC and RL are Registered Post. EU is Express Parcel. VP is Value Payable Post. So EE123456789IN is a Speed Post item, and RA123456789IN is Registered Post. The trailing IN is the country code for India and is the same on every domestic and outbound item.
How do I track an India Post package?
Enter the 13-character consignment number in the box above and select India Post. The status is fetched live from India Post's own system, so you see the same scan history the post office sees, usually within a few seconds. You do not need an account, an OTP or the India Post website. If the number was booked in the last few hours it may not be in the system yet; first scan normally appears once the item is bagged at the booking office.
Where do I find my India Post tracking ID?
The tracking ID is printed on the receipt the post office counter gives you at booking, labelled Consignment Number or Article Number. For an item you are receiving, the sender has it. For an online order, it appears in the shipping confirmation from the seller. It is always 13 characters in the format two letters, nine digits, IN, and it never contains spaces even though the receipt sometimes prints it in groups.
Why is my India Post tracking not updating?
India Post records a scan when an item physically moves between offices, not continuously. A gap of two to three days is normal for Registered Post and for surface items travelling between states, and rural delivery offices sometimes upload a day late. If there has been no scan for more than seven days, or the item shows delivered but has not arrived, raise a complaint at indiapost.gov.in with the consignment number, which is the only route that reaches the delivery post office directly.
