Alerts
Hear about stuck parcels, failed delivery attempts and returns in the app: the bell and inbox, alert rules, and what each plan includes.
Updated
Alerts tell your team when a shipment needs someone: it is stuck, a delivery attempt failed, or it is coming back to you. They appear in the app, for your own team, and nowhere else.
Where alerts appear
The bell at the top of every page shows how many alerts you haven't read, and the inbox lists them with a link to each shipment. Every alert names its shipment with the full tracking number and the courier, for example “Delivered: EE123456789IN (India Post)”. Use “Mark all read” to clear the count. Alerts are kept, never cleared out.
What you get without changing anything
Every workspace starts with one rule, “Exceptions”: when a shipment gets an exception, the Owner and Admins get an alert in the app as soon as we see it. Each person gets one alert for each exception, however many times we check the shipment.
Alert rules
Owners and Admins set the workspace's rules in Settings → Alerts. A rule is turned off rather than deleted, so you can turn it back on later. A rule has three parts:
- When: an exception starts (any, or just stuck, failed attempt, RTO, not found, OFD overdue, running late or delayed updates); the status changes (to any status, or to the ones you choose); delivered; out for delivery; a courier's updates are delayed; an import finished; your plan's usage reaches 80% or 100%.
- Which shipments: by courier, tag, source or destination state. A courier delay looks at the courier only; a finished import and usage concern no one shipment.
- Who: chosen members, all Admins (the Owner included), or both.
When two rules match the same thing, each person still gets one alert. A member who leaves the workspace stops getting alerts; a rule that alerted only them is turned off.
Courier delays and imports
When a courier stops answering our checks for more than 10 minutes, rules on courier delays tell you once per outage how many of your shipments it carries, for example “Delhivery updates are delayed: 14 of your shipments”. Only workspaces with active shipments on that courier hear about it. When an import finishes, rules on finished imports say how many shipments it added, with a link to them; the person who ran the import already has their own note in the inbox, so the rule leaves them out.
Muting alerts
Everyone, Viewers included, can mute their own alerts in Account → Notifications, for each workspace: whole kinds of alert (say, every delivery, whichever rule reports it), single rules, or everything for a while (up to 30 days). Mutes are yours alone: nobody else in the workspace sees or changes them, and neither does TrackParcel support.
Mutes silence alert rules only. Notices about the workspace itself always reach the Owner and Admins they are meant for, whatever they mute: usage reaching 80% or 100% of your plan, rules paused by a plan change, and changes to your webhooks.
The bell also holds the workspace's other notices, which are not alert rules and can't be muted: a scheduled report that is ready or has failed, and billing notices such as a failed payment or a refund.
Alerts on each plan
| What you get | Free | Starter | Growth | Pro and Enterprise |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alerts in the app (the bell and inbox) | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Alert rules and mutes | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Rules that send alerts about a courier or tag to chosen people | – | – | – | ✓ |
| Webhooks for developers | – | 1 endpoint | 3 endpoints | 10 endpoints |
A rule about a courier or a tag that alerts all Admins works on every plan. Sending those alerts to chosen people is per-team routing, part of Pro: below Pro, the rule editor shows it as locked. Developers who want shipment changes in their own systems can use webhooks instead.
Rules paused by your plan
If your workspace moves below Pro, for example when you change to a smaller plan or a plan TrackParcel granted you ends, rules that send courier or tag alerts to chosen people are paused. They aren't deleted or changed: the Owner gets one notice in the app saying how many were paused, and they work again as soon as you upgrade. Rules your plan includes keep working throughout.
Usage notices
When your workspace reaches 80% and then 100% of the active shipments your plan includes, the Owner and Admins get a notice in the app, once each per billing period, and a banner shows on every page. Members of rules on usage get the same notice. At 100%, new shipments wait until the next period or an upgrade; shipments already counted keep updating.
