Japan Post Tracking – Complete Guide
Japan Post handles everything from domestic Yu-Pack parcels to international EMS, air and surface registered mail. International items carry UPU S10 numbers - two letters, nine digits, ending in JP for Japan-origin mail - while Yu-Pack uses an 11–12 digit number. The tracking history records acceptance at the post office, departure and arrival scans at each exchange office, arrival in the destination country and final delivery or handover to the local carrier.

What Japan Post tracking statuses mean
Japan Post may word these differently. The event text in your result is the carrier's own.
- Booked / Shipment created
- The sender has registered the shipment. The courier may not have the parcel yet.
- Picked up
- The courier has collected the parcel from the sender.
- In transit
- The parcel is moving between the courier's facilities. Gaps between scans are normal on long routes.
- Arrived at hub / destination
- Scanned at a sorting hub or the delivery branch. It is not with a delivery agent yet.
- Out for delivery
- A delivery agent has the parcel and will attempt delivery, usually the same day.
- Delivery attempted / Undelivered
- An attempt failed. Couriers normally try again; contact the courier to correct the address or agree a time.
- Delivered
- The courier has recorded the handover. If you do not have the parcel, raise it with the courier and the seller straight away.
- RTO / Returned
- Return to origin: the parcel is on its way back to the sender.

How do I track my Japan Post EMS item?
Enter the 13-character number from your posting receipt - two letters, nine digits, ending in JP (e.g. EN123456789JP) - to see every scan from acceptance to delivery.
Where is my EMS item after arriving in my country?
Once the item is handed to your local postal operator, new scans appear under the same S10 number on your national post's site; Japan Post continues to show the last international scan it processed.
