Getting started
Adding shipments
Add one tracking number, paste many at once, upload an Excel or CSV file, or let shipments arrive from the API.
Updated
A shipment is one tracking number on one courier. Once it is added we check it straight away and then keep checking it until the parcel is delivered or returned. Owners, Admins and Members can add shipments; Viewers can't.
Ways to add shipments

|---|---|---|---|
| One at a time | “Add shipments” in the top bar, or press a | 1 | All |

| API | POST /api/v1/shipments | 100 per request | Starter and above |
Add one shipment
Only the tracking number is required. The courier is set to “Auto-detect”, which picks it from the number (see How courier detection works), or you can choose it from the list. You can also add:
- a label or reference (up to 80 characters) and an order ID (up to 64), which you can search by;
- the customer's name, mobile number (+91, 10 digits starting with 6–9), email, address, pincode, city and state, kept with the shipment for your team;
- up to 10 tags, and a note.
When you save, we check with the courier at once. If the courier takes longer than 20 seconds, the check carries on in the background and the shipment shows “Checking with Delhivery…” (or whichever courier it is) until the result arrives.
Paste many
Paste one shipment per line, in any of these forms:
- the tracking number alone: 1234567890123
- the number and the courier: 1234567890123, Delhivery
- the number, the courier and a reference: EE123456789IN, Speed Post, Notice 42
Separate the parts with a comma, a tab, a semicolon or two or more spaces. Blank lines, and lines starting with #, are ignored.
Before anything is added, a preview shows a check for every line: “Ready”, “Pick courier”, “Already added”, “Invalid” or “Over limit”. Lines that need a courier can be fixed one at a time or as a group, for example “Pick courier for these 37 numbers”. Up to 200 lines are added immediately; a larger batch becomes an import that runs in the background, shows its progress under Imports, and tells you in the app's inbox when it finishes.
How tracking numbers are checked
- We remove spaces, hyphens, punctuation and labels such as “AWB:”, and use capital letters. What you typed is kept alongside, exactly as entered.
- After that, a tracking number must be 6–40 letters or digits. Anything else is marked “Invalid”: “Tracking numbers are 6–40 letters or digits.”
- A number Excel has changed, such as
1.23457E+11, is rejected. See Importing an Excel or CSV file to fix the file. - A number that looks like a phone number or an email address gets a warning, and is accepted if you choose its courier. So is a number that doesn't look like the courier you chose (“This doesn't look like a Delhivery number”).
- If TrackParcel has paused a courier, its shipments are saved but not checked, with the message “Delhivery tracking is paused by TrackParcel”, until it is switched back on.
Duplicates and reused numbers
- Already tracked in this workspace: skipped. When importing a file, “Update shipments already in TrackParcel” updates it instead: it replaces the label and order ID, adds tags and the note, and fills or replaces customer details. Empty cells never clear anything, and the courier and the tracking number never change.
- Archived in this workspace: restored, with its fields updated. This is how you add an archived number again.
- Twice in the same batch: merged. The first line wins and later lines fill in its blanks.
- The same number on a different courier: a separate shipment, labelled “Also tracked as Blue Dart”. (An import treats a number you track on one courier as that shipment, whatever courier the file names.)
- Reused numbers: some couriers reuse numbers. If a number was delivered, returned or cancelled more than 60 days ago, it is tracked as a new shipment so the two journeys don't mix, with a note such as “We tracked this number before (delivered Mar 2025). This is tracked as a new shipment.”
Labels, tags and notes
- Labels and order IDs appear in lists, exports and webhooks.
- Customer details are personal data that your business controls.
- Tags are up to 32 characters, at most 10 per shipment, and can carry one of four colours. Admins can rename or merge tags, and a rename applies everywhere.
- Notes form a thread on the shipment. You can edit your own note for 15 minutes.
When you reach your plan's limit
Plans count active shipments: shipments we checked at least once in the current monthly period. When your allowance is used up, new shipments are still saved but wait, unchecked and uncounted, marked “Waiting: plan limit reached”. They start on their own, oldest first, when allowance frees up: at your next period, or when you buy a larger plan. Packs of 500 more on Growth and Pro: Coming soon. There are never surprise overage charges.
Archiving a shipment doesn't give allowance back in the current period, because it has already been counted.
