Look up a Matson ocean container, such as a MATU box, by its container number: TrackParcel reads the public Ocean Shipment Tracking, which searches container history up to 90 days old. No login required.

Tracking Number Format
Pattern: Container number: four letters (the fourth U, J or Z) and six digits, plus a check digit
Format example
MATU2468024
Illustrative format, not a live shipment.
TrackParcel has confirmed that Matson's tracker answers lookups, but has not yet checked a delivered shipment end to end. The status wording below comes from the carrier's own published statuses.
Only the container number, although Ocean Shipment Tracking itself also searches by Booking number or Bill of Lading number. Give the owner code and category letter (U, J or Z), then six serial digits; the closing check digit is optional. Booking and bill of lading references shaped otherwise get a not-found answer and are never forwarded.
No container came back for that number, so TrackParcel reports it as not found. On Matson's own page, a container search with no record shows that one sentence and nothing more. The form beside it notes that container and booking history can be searched up to 90 days old.
A note on the tracking page says all events are recorded in local time, so some data may display out of sequence. TrackParcel sorts the list by recorded time, latest on top. Each clock is read in the zone of a known port, such as Honolulu or Anchorage, or as Pacific time elsewhere, before converting it to IST.
Origin and destination ports, plus the Net Container Weight, given in pounds and shown by TrackParcel as the weight. The record also carries customs details, the vessel ETA, the equipment type and the temperature, which TrackParcel leaves unread. The booking number is only checked for presence and never shown.
Only an event whose own wording reports a delivery, and only while it is the newest one. Empty-box moves and rail hand-offs never count, because they are equipment moves, not the cargo arriving. An out-for-delivery event becomes the Out for Delivery status, while a failed attempt keeps the carrier's text.
Matson, Inc. describes itself as a US-owned and operated transportation services company headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii. Its subsidiary Matson Navigation Company serves Hawaii, Alaska, Guam, Micronesia and the South Pacific, with an expedited service from China to Southern California.
This page covers ocean containers only. The Track menu on matson.com keeps separate trackers for commercial and personal vehicles. Matson Logistics, the group's rail, highway brokerage and forwarding arm, is described on its own, and TrackParcel searches only container numbers on the line's ocean tracker.
The tracking form has three choices, Container, Booking and Bill of Lading, and TrackParcel uses the Container search alone. Type the four-letter prefix, whose last letter is U, J or Z, and the six serial digits; adding the check digit is optional. Boxes owned by Matson begin MATU, and given one of those, Auto-Detect names Matson only.
For a box with another owner code it is not suggested, so choose it by hand. The search box removes spaces, hyphens and a pasted label first; a booking or bill of lading reference without the container shape then stops with a not-found answer, unsent.
The tracker lists each movement event under Date & Time, Location and Status, and TrackParcel shows those three fields, newest first. It also takes the origin and destination ports and the net weight in pounds. Shipper, consignee and any other party in the record are never read.
Its page prints every event time on a Pacific clock and notes that events are recorded in local time. TrackParcel therefore reads each clock in the zone of the place it names when that is one of the line's ports it knows, and as Pacific time elsewhere. Every time is then shown converted to IST, labelled IST.
Asked about a container it has no record of, the tracker sends back an empty list, and the page then reads unable to find a shipment matching your search request. TrackParcel treats it as not found.
If the tracking page answers that the lookup is not a valid request, or the page has changed, TrackParcel shows an error rather than an unknown box. A refusal by matson.com, a failure on its side or a lost connection shows as unavailable instead. Too many requests means a temporary limit to TrackParcel, and the page itself asks for another try in 5 minutes.
The Shipping menu lists Hawaii, Guam & Micronesia, Alaska, China, Alaska – Asia, Japan and South Pacific services. TrackParcel knows the local zone of Hawaiian ports such as Honolulu, Hilo and Kahului, Alaskan ports such as Anchorage, Kodiak and Dutch Harbor, Guam and Saipan, and Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Yokohama and Naha.
A place written as City, XX is placed by that two-letter code alone, such as HI or AK, and as Pacific time when the code is not one TrackParcel knows. Any other place, including ambiguous names such as Portland or Richmond, is read as Pacific time.
The Contact Us page sends shipping questions to a Customer Service Center, split into Hawaii, Guam and Micronesia service, Alaska and Alaska–Asia service, and China service, with a form for an Account Specialist to get in touch. Ask the team for your trade lane about a booking, or about a container the tracker no longer shows. Have the container, booking or bill of lading number ready.

The card below explains what it means when a lookup finds no record.
Matson's own status words could not be sourced, so no cards appear here: a Status text is printed per event only for a real container, and none was available. Each event in the result's history keeps the carrier's own status text.
No. The Track menu of matson.com splits Your Container, Your Commercial Vehicle and Your Personal Vehicle into separate trackers, and TrackParcel's Matson page uses only the container one. Follow a car or commercial vehicle on that vehicle tracking instead.
Not for the basic status. The carrier says Ocean Shipment Tracking gives a high-level status of where your container is without a user id or password. TrackParcel reads only that public view, one container number per lookup.
The About page describes Matson Logistics as a subsidiary offering rail intermodal, highway brokerage, less-than-truck-load transportation, warehousing and international freight forwarding. This page searches container numbers on the line's ocean tracker and nothing else, so any other Matson Logistics reference cannot be looked up here.
