Tracking Number Format
Pattern: 098 followed by an 8-digit serial, with or without a dash; a three-letter station code between the two (098BOM…) or the serial on its own also works
Format example
098-12345678
Illustrative format, not a live shipment.
They are three steps at the origin cargo terminal and usually appear within minutes of each other. Freight on hand means the cargo has physically reached the terminal. Executed means the air waybill has been finalised. Accepted means the airline has taken the shipment as ready for carriage. Until Accepted appears, the cargo has not been handed over to Air India.
Built up means the pieces have been loaded into a container or allocated as loose (bulk) cargo for a specific flight. Manifested means the shipment is listed on that flight's cargo manifest. Departed is the actual take-off. A shipment that is Manifested but never shows Departed for that flight was left behind and will be rebooked.
Arrived is the flight landing. The cargo is then unloaded and checked into the destination warehouse (Broken down), the consignee is told it is ready (Consignee notified), and only then is it released (Delivered). On the shipments this page was checked against, that took between about 90 minutes and half a day after landing. Collection is from the airport cargo terminal, with ID and the documents the terminal asks for.
Each row reports the pieces that milestone covers. When a flight cannot take the whole consignment, part of it is built up and the rest follows later, so a row can show 6 pieces of an 8-piece shipment. A Discrepancy row with a remark such as a space or planning reason records exactly that. The Delivered row shows how many pieces were actually released.
The shipment is travelling on more than one carrier. Transferred to another airline is Air India handing the cargo to the next carrier at a transfer airport, and Received from another airline is the reverse. Milestones recorded by the other airline may not appear here, so check that airline's tracking with the same AWB number for the next leg.
Air India Cargo carries freight in the holds of Air India flights, airport to airport, on an air waybill (AWB) that starts with the airline prefix 098 followed by an 8-digit serial. Its tracking is a list of terminal milestones, and every row names the airport by its three-letter code (BOM, DEL, BLR, CCU, LKO), the number of pieces and the weight, and the flight where one applies, written as AI-2491. A straightforward domestic shipment reads Booked, Freight on hand, Executed, Accepted, Built up, Manifested and Departed at the origin airport, then Arrived, Broken down, Consignee notified and Delivered at the destination. Times are local to the airport that recorded the scan. Delivered here means the cargo was handed over at the airport cargo terminal, not at a street address.
Air India Cargo tracking begins with the reference printed on the shipment label, booking receipt, or dispatch message. The registered format guidance for this integration is 098 followed by an 8-digit serial, with or without a dash; a three-letter station code between the two (098BOM…) or the serial on its own also works; 098-12345678 is an illustrative example rather than an active parcel. Enter the reference exactly as issued, including letters, leading zeroes, spaces, or punctuation when they form part of the number.
TrackParcel sends the lookup to the public tracking transport associated with Air India Cargo and normalises the response into a readable timeline. When the carrier supplies them, the result can include the current shipment state, event timestamps, processing locations, and carrier remarks. The carrier creates and controls those scans; TrackParcel cannot add a missing event or promise when the next scan will appear. A recent successful response may be returned from a short-lived cache to reduce repeat requests.
Air India Cargo uses its own shipment references and scan process. The safest source is the dispatch confirmation, label, or receipt issued for that shipment. Similar-looking numeric references can belong to other couriers, so selecting Air India Cargo explicitly avoids an ambiguous format match.
If Air India Cargo returns no shipment, first compare the reference with the original message and remove accidental surrounding spaces. A newly created label may not be searchable until the first physical scan. Delays between events can also occur while a shipment moves between facilities, crosses a border, clears customs, or waits for a partner-carrier handoff. Try again later, then use the official Air India Cargo tracking page linked below when the shipment is urgent or the result remains unavailable.
Guide updated:
Air India Cargo may word these differently. The event text in your result is the carrier's own.
Enter your Air India Cargo tracking number in the search box above. TrackParcel requests the current status and available events from the carrier's tracking system.
A sample Air India Cargo reference is 098-12345678. Registered format guidance is 098 followed by an 8-digit serial, with or without a dash; a three-letter station code between the two (098BOM…) or the serial on its own also works. The exact format can vary by shipment service, so use the value printed on the receipt or shipping confirmation.
Carriers only add scans when a parcel is processed at a facility. A newly booked parcel or a shipment moving between hubs can show no new event for a while.
