Bulgarian Posts Plc, Български пощи on its Bulgarian pages, says it sends letters and parcels to more than 230 countries and territories, and it also lists the e-Package service for online shops and its courier service EMS/Bulpost. This page follows items on the ITEM TRACKING page of bgpost.bg.

EMS/Bulpost courier items open their own section on that tracker instead of the usual list of steps, and TrackParcel does not read that section. For those items it sends you to bgpost.bg itself, and the post's separate EMS/Bulpost login is never used.

The help text on bgpost.bg describes two shapes. An international item begins with R, C, E, L or V, then a second letter from A to Z, nine digits and the code of the country it was sent from, so a parcel from abroad keeps its origin's letters. E-packages and domestic items carry 13 characters starting with PS, and for letters, the post ties tracking to the registered service and the item's barcode number.

TrackParcel's search box removes spaces, dashes and similar separators before it asks. Bulgarian Post is then sent only those two shapes, and anything else, including an S10-style number starting with another letter, is turned down by TrackParcel without a request. For an incoming item with another country's letters, or a PS number, choose Bulgarian Post by hand.

TrackParcel asks the same tracking service that the ITEM TRACKING page calls, and asks for English wording. The page shows each step's Status, Location and Details; TrackParcel uses the Status as the event and the Location as the place, keeps Details beneath when it adds something, and sorts the newest step first because the page sets no order.

A stamp with no offset is read as Bulgarian time, Europe/Sofia, and one with its own offset is read in that offset; either way TrackParcel shows the time converted to India time, marked IST. No Bulgarian Post item with steps has come back to TrackParcel yet, so these fields follow the page's own script.

For an unknown number the tracking service answers with an empty list, and the answer itself carries no message. Of the answers to numbers TrackParcel sends, only that empty list is reported as not found. A challenge or maintenance page instead of the service's answer shows as the tracker being unavailable, and an answer in a changed layout is reported as an error.

Before chasing a missing item, check which postal site should hold it at this point. Until an inbound item reaches Bulgaria, the sending country's postal site is the place to look, and the sender who posted it can confirm the number.

Bulgarian Posts says goods from a third country go through customs clearance, and you may have to pay VAT and customs duties on delivery; it offers to prepare the declarations for you. It says you will be notified when an item has been detained for customs clearance and documents are needed.

Items that have been through customs are delivered only to the designated post office, not to the recipient's address. It stores items awaiting clearance for 45 calendar days, after which they are returned to the sender.

For an inquiry about an item sent or delivered, the post asks you to complete an application, hand it in at a post office and pay the inquiry fee; its letters page offers the form to download. A sender can also apply there to withdraw an item or redirect it. Take the 13-character item number with you.
