TrackParcel has confirmed that Posta Faroe Islands's tracker answers lookups, but has not yet checked a delivered shipment end to end. The status wording below comes from the carrier's own published statuses.
A sender finds it on the receipt or in the Posta app, and a recipient gets it from the sender. MyPosta also shows it when the postage was bought on posta.fo. Traceable letters, such as sporbræv and registered letters, get one too. Posta's customs page says mail numbers are two letters, nine digits and a country code, or sometimes 20 digits.
Posta's service sends back an empty reply, which its own page treats as an invalid tracking code. TrackParcel then shows the number as not found. Posta answers mistyped or malformed input the same way. So check every character against the receipt before deciding that the item itself is missing.
When the newest event's type is one that Posta's own tracker page groups as delivered. For a missing type, or one the page does not know, the wording decides instead. For types its page groups as attempted delivery, return to sender, unable to deliver, ready to collect or cancelled, TrackParcel keeps Posta's own text as the status and never rewrites it to Delivered or Out for Delivery.
Posta says an item sent from the Faroe Islands can always be traced to Denmark, but to other countries not always until delivery. For the rest of the journey it advises the postal service of the destination country, and it names PostNord, the Danish operator, as another place to try.
Posta numbers each parcel of a multi-parcel shipment, and TrackParcel adds that label to every event when a shipment has more than one parcel. A one-parcel shipment shows no label. The status at the top follows the newest event across all of the parcels.
Posta runs posta.fo, whose Track & Trace page is the one TrackParcel reads for Posta Faroe Islands. Its terms say postal shipments follow the rules of the Universal Postal Union, and they name the Faroese Postal Authority, reached through its own website.
Posta's terms say an ordinary letter cannot be traced, while a parcel always has a tracking number and a registered letter is always traceable. Order details for postage bought on posta.fo sit in MyPosta, which TrackParcel does not open; it reads the public page as a visitor who is not signed in. No real Posta parcel has yet been read through TrackParcel, so its event wording is still unconfirmed.
Posta's customs page sorts numbers by shape: two letters, nine digits and a country code mark a mail shipment, and mail may also carry a 20-digit number. A DHL number of 10 digits is a freight shipment, and some small parcels arrive with no number at all. An item number ending FO brings Posta Faroe Islands into Auto-Detect's suggestions, below India Post; for an all-digit number, choose Posta Faroe Islands yourself.
TrackParcel strips a pasted label, spaces and separators and capitalises letters first. It then sends Posta only two letters, nine digits and two letters, with any country code, or 6 to 20 digits. Up to 50 letters and digits in any other arrangement get a not-found answer before Posta is asked.
TrackParcel asks for the same English answer that Posta's Track & Trace page shows a visitor who is not signed in. Each event brings Posta's own description, a place name when Posta gives one, and a date with a time, or a date alone. Besides those, TrackParcel reads only the event's type and parcel number, and nothing personal appears among these fields.
Posta's times carry no offset, so TrackParcel reads them as Faroese time, UTC+0 or UTC+1 in summer, and shows them converted to IST, labelled IST. The order of Posta's events is not documented, so TrackParcel sorts them newest first.
For a number it does not know, Posta's service replies with nothing at all, the case its page treats as an invalid tracking code; TrackParcel then shows not found. A blank, maintenance or block page, a refusal or a server error is reported as Posta Faroe Islands being temporarily unavailable instead.
A recipient whose number finds nothing should ask the sender, who is the one Posta says passes the tracking number on. For an item that left the Faroe Islands, the destination country's postal service may hold the later events.
Posta clears postal shipments through customs itself; only freight, such as a DHL shipment, can be cleared by the recipient at the TAKS office. Its customs page gives a fee of DKK 120 when the invoice value with transport is below DKK 3,000, and DKK 200 above that. Once the customs invoice is paid online, Posta delivers the shipment to your door, and a missing invoice can be uploaded through its site.
Complaints go to Posta's customer service, which its Contact page lists on weekdays from 9.00 to 15.00, by phone or through a message form. Posta's terms say compensation for postal shipments follows the Universal Postal Union's terms, while freight can be insured. Have the tracking number ready, plus the sender's invoice or receipt for anything held for customs.

The card below explains what it means when a lookup finds no record.
Posta publishes no list of its event wording, and no real Posta parcel has yet been read through TrackParcel, so no status wording is shown here. Results show Posta's own event text; for an event type Posta's page knows, the type decides whether TrackParcel marks the item delivered, and otherwise the wording does.
Posta's customs page says goods plus shipping worth less than 300 DKK pay no further duty or VAT. Excise goods such as sweets are outside that limit, and gifts for birthdays and Christmas are free of customs duty up to 700 DKK.
No: Posta says a normal letter sent by mail is not traceable, so you cannot see when it is delivered. For an extra charge a letter can go registered, which is always traceable and is handed over against a signature.
Posta says a DHL shipment with a 10-digit number is freight, which the recipient may clear through customs at the TAKS office to save the customs fee. Mail carries two letters, nine digits and a country code, or sometimes 20 digits.
